About Our Clinic

At Halton & Mississauga RAAM Clinic, our dedicated team strives to provide the most comprehensive, accessible, timely, and individualized patient care available in the addiction treatment field.  We are passionate about helping our patients get their lives back and reach their recovery goals.

Our clinic has a friendly, compassionate and non-judgmental approach, with a dedicated desire to support our patients throughout their journey of recovery.  We truly understand the disease of addiction, and take a harm-reduction approach by meeting people where they are at, and helping them get to where they want to go.  We recognize that relapse is a common part of the process, and we warmly welcome all patients back no matter how they are doing.

About RAAM Clinics

RAAM stands for “Rapid Access Addiction Medicine”.  RAAM Clinics were first established in 2015 as part of the META:PHI initiative to offer quick and low-barrier access to addiction medicine care without needing an appointment or formal referral.  Due to the outstanding success of this model, RAAM Clinics have begun to expand across Ontario and beyond.  Halton RAAM Clinic in Oakville opened on January 21, 2019, marking the first RAAM clinic in the Halton Region. We subsequently expanded to serve Milton and Georgetown. On October 15, 2019 our Mississauga RAAM Clinic in Clarkson became the first RAAM clinic in the City of Mississauga.

Although some RAAM Clinics provide time-limited care, Halton & Mississauga RAAM Clinic also offers the option of longer-term follow-up care to all of our patients where appropriate.  Services include assessment, medication treatment, brief counselling, and connection to community services such as addiction counselling with our partners at Halton ADAPT.

Our Team

Our clinical team is lead by an experienced and certified Addiction Medicine Physician, supported by a highly-trained Physician Assistant, who together deliver the latest evidence-based medical approaches in addiction treatment across the full range of substance use disorders.  Every patient is under the care of a medical doctor.

Dr. Darren J. Holub, MD, BSc, FRCPC, FASAM, DABAM, CCSAM

Addiction Medicine Physician and Medical Director

Dr. Darren Holub was initially trained in biochemistry, he obtained his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 2001, and completed his psychiatry residency through McMaster University.  Through his experiences, Dr. Holub developed a keen interest in the field of addiction, along with a strong passion, empathy, and desire to serve those individuals and families affected by this devastating disease.  For ten years he served as the Lead Psychiatrist of the Concurrent Disorders Program (combined mental health and substance use disorders) at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.  He has taught medical students and residents, and has trained staff and consulted at ADAPT and CMHA in Halton.  He was board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine in 2012, and is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and a Certificant of the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine.  Dr. Holub now primarily practices community-based addiction medicine through the Halton & Mississauga Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic.

Nino Parunashvili, BScPA, CCPA

Not only is Sheri a talented Clinic Coordinator, but she is also a very friendly, down-to-earth person who loves to meet and greet our patients.

Louisa Holub, BASc, MEng

Clinic Manager and President of Dove Medical Sevices

Louisa is the President and Co-Founder of Dove Medical Services, the parent company which operates Halton & Mississauga RAAM Clinic, and Clinic Manager. Prior to entering the medical field, Louisa worked in the fast-paced software industry for several years as a User Experience Designer/Researcher, Team Lead, and Project Manager for multi-national high-tech companies.

Louisa was first exposed to addiction and its devastating consequences during her travels to Central and South America as an engineering student. She witnessed first-hand how certain impoverished communities, which lack adequate addiction treatment services, were rife with broken families, domestic abuse, and poor mental and physical health due to a prevalence of untreated alcohol use disorder, among other factors. When the opportunity arose later in life to advocate for patients suffering from addiction in the Halton Region, she jumped at the opportunity to co-found and manage Halton’s first Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic.

Halton & Mississauga RAAM Clinic currently has 5 convenient locations across Halton Region and Mississauga, and we continue to expand to better serve our population.  Each location has free parking nearby.
