WE’RE Here to Help
Halton & Mississauga Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic is an outpatient addiction medicine clinic that provides expert assessment, brief counseling, and medication-assisted treatment for a variety of substance use disorders including opioids, alcohol, stimulants, cannabis, smoking cessation, and benzodiazepine tapering guidance.
Our services are 100% covered by OHIP, and all patients are under the care of doctors with expertise in addiction medicine.
We offer same day virtual care or walk-in service, with prompt access to Methadone and Suboxone programs for opioid addiction, and medication-assisted treatment for addiction involving Alcohol or other substances. We provide both short-term stabilization and longer-term follow-up care. Patients are also connected with addiction counseling and other supports to assist in their recovery.
WE ARE OPEN: The Halton & Mississauga RAAM Clinic remains open to serve patients in new and innovative ways which encourage social distancing during this pandemic.
VIRTUAL CARE: Most of our visits are now being offered virtually which allows for medical care to be delivered into your home via telephone or secure video technology.
CENTRALIZED RECEPTION & VIRTUAL CARE HOURS OF OPERATION: Our centralized services are open on Monday 8:30-3:30, Tuesday 11:30-6:30, Wednesday 9:00-6:00, Thursday 9:00-4:00, and Friday 10:00-3:00. To be assessed on the same day, new patients need to register at least one hour before clinic closing times.
We are closed all statutory holidays (including December 27 & 28, 2021, and January 3, 2022).
URINE TESTING: is often not required due to special rules in place during COVID-19. (This applies to patients already on Methadone or Suboxone programs who remain welcome to transfer quickly and easily into our program without any paperwork required in advance, and carry levels are retained.)
EXCEPTIONAL CARRIES: of Methadone and Suboxone are now permitted due to special guidelines in place during the pandemic, even for most patients who would not normally have any carries.
IN-PERSON OPTION: In order to reduce exposure, our clinicians are primarily working virtually, however our various locations remain open for any patients who might prefer to come in person. Surfaces are sterilized regularly. Our multiple clinicians and extensive hours allow for short wait times and avoidance of crowded waiting rooms for those who choose this option.
HEAD OFFICE RELOCATION: During COVID-19, clinical activities at our head office at Oakville CMHA (1540 Cornwall Rd, Unit 102) have been temporarily relocated across the street to the clinic space at Cornwall Pharmacy (1525 Cornwall Rd, Unit 18).
OTHER LOCATIONS: Our other locations (Oakville Kerr, Milton, Georgetown, Burlington, Mississauga Clarkson, and Toronto Oakwood) are operating at the usual addresses with hours as listed on this website.
WALK-INS: We continue to accept walk-in patients, both virtually and in person. All new patients are required to present for registration at least one hour before closing time. We hope that you all remain well and healthy during this challenging time.
Canada is in the midst of an opioid epidemic, with devastating effects on individuals, families, and our communities. Overdose deaths are continuing to rise. Opioids include heroin, prescription pain medications such as codeine, morphine, oxycodone (Percocet, OxyContin), and hydromorphone (Dilaudid). We are seeing the rise of extremely potent and deadly opioids such as fentanyl and carfentanil. Fortunately, highly effective and life-saving medications are available which treat withdrawal and rapidly stabilize opioid addiction to allow people to feel normal again and break the cycle of dependence. Halton & Mississauga RAAM Clinic provides immediate access to Methadone and Suboxone treatment programs to allow patients
Alcohol addiction is widespread, progressive, and often goes unrecognized and untreated. This eventually leads to health, relational, occupational, financial, or other problems. Effective anti-craving medications exist which can help people reduce or stop their consumption of alcohol. Our doctors at the Halton & Mississauga RAAM Clinic are experienced in the use of these medications, and will help determine the best treatment plan based on each patient’s unique goals and health situation.
Medication-assisted treatment options are available to assist with the problematic use of other substances including stimulants (cocaine, methamphetamine), cannabis, and tobacco/nicotine. We also provide expert guidance for patients interested in tapering off sedative-hypnotic medications, such as benzodiazepines and zopiclone.
